December 2008 - A bright, cold day for a run

On Saturday December 13th a small, but determined group met at Lisi Lake for our 2nd trail walk/run. We had returning runners as well as a few newcomers. Everyone finished strong and, most importantly, with a smile. While the cold temps (25 F) were tough on the lungs they provided hard packed trails ( as opposed to last month's sloppy mud).

December 13 Registration Open!

With the great turn out we had, it looks like we'll have another 2 mi / 5 mi run/walk on Saturday December 13 at 10am. Registration is now available for December on the right side of the page. I'll put up a more "formal" announcement to stay on the top in a week or so.

Same place, same time as before so that some new folks can come and see what all the hubub is about.

Volunteers NEEDED! We need volunteers for timing and helping with the spread.

Please add a comment if you have any thoughts or suggestions for future events. Finding a course that will work is very difficult. If you have any suggestions, please add a comment or send an email to tbilisioffroad@gmail.com.

Future date thoughts:
Dec 13 2008 - Keeps away from Christmas vacationers and the hash.
Jan 24 2009 - Puts it a long way away from New Years and all those issues. (Plus I'll be gone until the 10th.)

I'll try to get some sort of voting mechanism for dates past that. I'm also going to look into publishing a list of who's already registered.

November 2008 - Off to a cool, wet start!

Tbilisi Off-Road had a great turn out for the first 2/5 mile trail series in-spite of the cool temps and soggy weather. 16 walkers of all ages turned out for the 2 mile course and 7 runners "mucked it out" on the muddy 5 mile course.

Winner of the 5 mi, Peter and girlfriend Carrie

Peter Hill, teacher at The New School, won the 5 mile run in 37:48 and took home a loaf of banana bread.

John won the 2 mile walk and took home the brownies!

John Ainsley finished the 2 mile walk in first place with a time of 28:20 and collected the much coveted batch of brownies.

Everyone crossed the finish with smiles. Thanks for a great turn out and we look forward to seeing even more participants in December!

The First Monthly 2Mi/5Mi Run/Walk in Tbilisi!

Woods Near Lisi Lake
Come join us on what what will hopefully be a regular 2/5 mile run/walk. This can either be a race, or just a fun hike around Lisi Lake.

Who: YOU! (and me)
What: A 2 Mile walk near Lisi Lake, a 2 mile run near Lisi Lake, or a 5 mile run near Lisi Lake.
Where: Lisi Lake, Tbilisi. Starting in the parking lot farthest away from the Lake itself, near the drivers ed course. (Mountain bikers frequently start here.)
When: Saturday, November 8th at 10am

HOW?
- Register for the event by filling out this form
- Register to volunteer by filling out this form .

How much? IT'S FREE!

Since we're just starting to get this going and I have no idea how big the interest is, this is totally free. With free comes laid back. Prizes for the first place in each of the 3 categories will be some sort of baked good made by generous volunteer.

The goal is, to get a regular 2Mi/5Mi series where you can see fitness or times improve and have a good time meeting other folks of similar interests. If the crowd size allows, we might have a few larger events with a registration fee and prizes.

Other notes:
Links to registrations and a PDFs of the courses for the race on Saturday can be found in the upper right corner. Also you can add comments and vote in the poll. Take a look around and let me know what you think!
